i downloaded an actual audio format wmv file from http://lynnemusic.com or something like that to check my 5.1 speakers. well it works great then and it does pass the sound test in the sound manager. so there is something wrong with the speakers when playing normal mp3 songs or something else normally with wmp or vlc or some other player.
